I am a wife, mother to 4 children, former foster mom, Godmother, aunt, and daughter of the highest King, Jesus! I have successfully taught all of our babies to sleep through the night. I started motherhood as most moms do… with no experience, piles high in laundry, and sleep deprived. With my first child, I was physically depleted and my mental health suffered. My child was cranky for the first eight months of his life! And the lack of sleep caused unnecessary stress on our marriage. It was enough for me to search hard for answers.
I had worked with children my whole life. Babysitting, teaching dance, summer camps, theater classes, birthday parties, and caring for all of my younger cousins. I knew the bible said, “Children are a blessing.” Psalm 127:3. But motherhood didn’t feel like a blessing. I wanted so badly to have more children but I couldn’t see how it would be possible without sleep. How did moms of multiple children do it? What was their secret?

THE IMPORTANCE OF SLEEP
Alongside food, water, and shelter, sleep is a top basic need for human survival. God designed us to be asleep 1/3rd of our lifetime. That is at least 33.3% of each day! And for our children it’s even more.
Age appropriate hours of sleep is required for a child’s brain to develop properly. Oftentimes tantrums are a symptom of a dysregulated nervous system due to over exhaustion. When you and your kids start sleeping through the night it will positively change the dynamic of your home. You’ll notice your kids wake up happier because they’ve received an adequate amount of quality sleep.
